Profile

Brian Powers was born in England in 1946. .

During the 1960s he studied Fine Art at Hornsey College of Art, London.

In 1969 Brian opened his own commercial studio, employing several fellow

artists to assist him. During this period a wide variety of work was produced,

including  sculpture for film sets at Elstree Studios, and figurative pieces

for collectors and galleries .

After travelling extensively overseas, Brian settled in Queensland, Australia

in 1977, where he taught sculpture for TAFE until moving to Tasmania in

1994 .

In  2007, after more than forty years, circumstances forced Brian to cease

sculpture and casting, and turn his talent to the less physically demanding,

although equally challenging, pursuit of graphic art, which he views as yet

another phase on his creative  journey in which he can indulge his love of

 contemporary Surrealism.
